Wordless Wednesday

Learning a new game

Mandy found out quickly it's not as easy as it looks. She also saw that hitting balls on the driving range is different than on a course. But she has good form and will very quickly be like her mom....making Danny and I look bad.
This is the same par 3 course I took Taylor to last week.

Knicks vs. Bobcats

Last night Amanda-Faye and I were treated to unbelievable seats at the final Bobcats game of the season. My friend, Napoleon, called me Wednesday morning wondering if I wanted to buy the tickets from his sister for half of the $125/seat price. I declined, but he called me back at 3pm and said to meet him at the arena and take them for free.

Neither the Bobcats nor the Knicks are headed to the playoffs, so the organization went all out with their promotions. Free t-shirts to everyone, $2 hotdogs, $3 beer, car give-away, players game shoes and jerseys given away, and fireworks. The seats we had were court level,
3rd row, center court! I shook hands with coach Bickerstaff, Gerald Wallace, Walter Herrmann, Raymond Felton, and Adam Morrison. We were having a drink pre-game in the private underground lounge when Mugsy Bogues walked in and waved to us. Our seats were so good thatwe had a waiter, during halftime were allowed into the "backcourt lounge" for free beer, and when leaving were given fresh cookies and milk/coffee!

So Napleon, A-F, and my other friend Larry, and I, saw the game. Larry hadn't been in the arena before and these seats blew him away. At theend, the guys left, but I'd brought my camera and wanted to see if Michael Jordan, now involved in Bobcats Operations, was going to appear for the coach's retirement. He didn't, but I got up close and personal with everyone else.

"...to love, honor, and QUACK until QUACK do we part."

This is my first post in over a week, which means I missed posting a "Wordless Wednesday" pic. Oh well, I'll just brief you on last weekend's happenings.

Mandy and I went to a wedding Saturday morning that was a little on the unusual side. We met the couple through church, the groom was a childhood member and has recently come back, about two weeks ago as they were planning to get married this past week. We were invited and I took some photos for them. For a few minutes it was like de ja vu for Mandy and I, being the first wedding we'd attended together since getting married ourselves, as well as being held in the same church. But, bless their hearts, so many awkwardly funny things happened that would've made the average bride cringe, but they were just happy to be together it appeared. Both of the usher's/groomsmen's clothes were more wrinkled than a English Boxer puppy, most of the attendees brought cameras...disposables that had to be wound after each shot...during the silence of the vows of course, they both forgot portions of their vows, the flower girl wore flip flops, after he kissed the bride, he put her veil back down over her face and she left it there as they walked back up the aisle, and finally, they had hash browns and sausage pie at the reception. The one thing that had me, literally, pinching myself to maintain composure was the family member taking pictures with his cell phone that had downloaded a duck sound for each picture taken. He walked right between the couple as THEY ARE SAYING THEIR VOWS and "quack.....quack" he takes two pictures! I promise, I'm not making this up.
The family was nice and the couple wants to start out on the right foot. They are attending services and the church/life group is helping them in a lot of ways. As I said about another couple this morning, "may they have more joy than most".
