Fun Saturday, part 2 of 2

After the picnic, we went to the costume store where we'd rented Mandy's Halloween Southern-Belle dress to scout out next Halloween's costumes. When walking in the store, I told Taylor, "You can be anything you want! You want a banana costume, they've got it. You want to be Elvis, they've got it." She replied, "Ok, do they have a Cat in the Hat/Dr. Seuss costume?" I took two steps and found it!

When we started trying on things I realized these would make great blog pics. So here are some of the ones we tried on.

We must've spent an hour and a half in there and didn't spend a dime. Taylor had so much fun she didn't want to leave.

Your Saturday was, for a Beta Club member and fifth-grader, the epitome of F-U-N, I'm sure! I especially liked the one of the three of you in the 10-gallon (100-gallon?) hats. Fun doesn't have to be expensive, and that's why I like to check out thrift stores! Did you see on the news recently about the guy in Nashville who bought a copy of the Declaration of Independence for $2.48 and it turned out to be one of 250 rare documents commissioned by John Adams valued at "six figures"?
That's like the woman in Danville who bought a strand of pearls that turned out to be rare Japanese type valued at $50,000 or more. I love stories like that! I hope that Amanda-Faye and I will have such luck this weekend.
Love,
Mom

Love, love, LOVE your weekend!! Picnic, park, a movie, a party--all good!--and that costume store is SIMPLY AMAZING. Y'all have to take me there the next time I get to Charlotte...even though I found a couple of those pictures a little disturbing. (That one of Darling Daughter with a donkey head on her hand reminded me of a Black Adder episode where his servant turned into a donkey in a creepy dream sequence. And what was that first costume supposed to be? Mr. Peanut? Bozo?)

The only way your could have made me MORE jealous? If you'd written:

"So, after church, we all went to lunch at the Mellow Mushroom."

What a fun day, and what great pictures! My favorite costumes were Popeye & Olive Oyl, and the donkey & wolf. Too bad it wasn't a donkey and elephant! Or would that be "too gubernatorial"?
