Madeline James or James Russell?
We had our first ultrasound this morning and are blessed to report all indications are for a healthy baby...no twins. Dottie arrived last night from a flight and was able to come along for the excitement. The nurse took routine measurements to rule out possible birth defects and everything is normal, thank God. It's a little early to determine gender with 100% accuracy, but both the nurse and doctor predict, with 70-80% certainty, that we're having...

A BOY!!!!!!!!!!!A BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!A BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!A BOY!!!!!!!!!
We're very excited of course, and Amanda Faye started applauding the news. Reminding myself of the other 30% chance, I was more reserved and just smiled from ear to ear. The doctor also reiterated not to go monogramming anything yet or painting walls blue, as they've been fooled before.
The snapshots above may be difficult to discern, but the moving images showed ribs, spine, fingers, umbilical cord, etc. The baby was jumping so much, about every 30 seconds, that I asked if it had hiccups. The nurse said it was just stretching and arching it's back. So amazing. We'll have a 4-Dimensional ultrasound after several weeks have passed which typically will show much clearer images and features.
Thank God for the good news and keep praying for a healthy baby, pregnancy, and mother.

I'm so happy for you both! And I agree with Dad--thank you so much for letting us share in the excitement and anticipation of it all. I have to tell you, the ultrasound pictures brought tears to my eyes! Such a miracle and a blessing!

Wheeee! Sweet Baby James! (I was a little concerned when I saw "THE KING" on the left of each ultrasound pic and am so thankful you are not naming my niece or nephew "Elvis.")
Oh, and I love how the photographs label the HEAD, BODY, and LEG for you!
Y'all be sure to eat lots of Mexican food and generous amounts of salsa the next few months so he'll always want to come visit his aunts down in Texas...
I could hardly concentrate on my job the rest of the day after seeing the sonogram! What before had seemed so ethereal suddenly became a reality and had visible substance. Now I can hardly wait to hold our grandbaby in my arms, and July can't come fast enough. We're counting the days and offering up praise! Give Mandy a big, warm hug for us, okay?
Congratulations!
I can't get enough. I'm back again today to survey The King...
(Hey, Sweet Baby James! Aunt Kristy will always have GUM.)
And you can be sure that Aunt Kristy's gum will always be sugar-free!!
